AI chatbot Grok set to be available for all premium subscribers this week, announces Musk

New Delhi, March 27 (IANS) – Elon Musk has announced that X platform will soon make its AI chatbot, Grok, available to more paying subscribers to compete with OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Grok will become accessible to all Premium subscribers, not just Premium+, in the coming days.

Last week, xAI released its AI chatbot Grok in open-source mode for developers and researchers, providing the weights and architecture of its 314 billion parameter Mixture-of-Experts model, Grok-1. The chatbot is now available on the developer platform Github.

In an effort to expand its reach, xAI extended Grok to India and 46 other countries, including Australia, Canada, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Singapore. The microblogging platform has already introduced Grok AI (beta) to Premium+ subscribers in the US.

Despite these developments, X platform’s usage in the US has seen a decline of 18 percent year-over-year and 23 percent since Musk’s acquisition in October 2022, according to data from Sensor Tower. Musk’s decision to make Grok more widely available may be a strategic move to increase platform engagement and attract more users.

In the competitive landscape of AI chatbots, X platform’s expansion of Grok to more subscribers indicates a proactive approach to enhance user experience and remain relevant in the evolving tech industry. The availability of Grok to a wider audience could potentially drive growth and strengthen X platform’s position in the market.
