The All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) has declared its plan to contest all 16 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar, as reported on Thursday. State President Akhtarul Imam revealed the party’s strategy to field candidates in key constituencies across the state in the upcoming elections.
Imam stated, “Our party wanted to be a part of the INDIA bloc but they ignored us. We will fight alone against the BJP.” He emphasized the need for representation of the Muslim community, citing their underrepresentation in Bihar’s political landscape.
Furthermore, the AIMIM expressed their readiness to support Hena Shahab, the widow of Mohd Shahabuddin, if she decides to enter the Lok Sabha race from Siwan. This development poses a challenge for the INDIA bloc, particularly impacting the equation of the RJD’s MY (Muslim-Yadav) support base.
In the 2020 Assembly elections, the AIMIM secured victories in 5 seats in Bihar, impacting the electoral prospects of the RJD and Congress in over 20 constituencies. The party’s decision to contest all Lok Sabha seats underscores their intention to challenge established political players in the state.
