PM Modi advocates for the development of the concept of Green GDP worldwide

New Delhi, March 29 (IANS) – Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized on India’s rapid advancements in the renewable energy sector, such as solar, wind energy, and green hydrogen during a dialogue with Microsoft Co-founder Bill Gates. Modi highlighted the importance of embracing ‘Green GDP’ to address climate change globally.

Modi stressed the need for developing a Green GDP to measure economic progress, stating, “We must ask how much green GDP is out of the total GDP of a country.” As India aims to reach a $5 trillion economy, the concept of green GDP becomes increasingly vital, considering the environmental costs of production.

The Prime Minister also underlined the significance of nature-friendly innovation, mentioning India’s creation of a Rs 1 lakh crore corpus fund to support technological innovation in sunrise sectors.
