Cong announces new candidate for Kolar Lok Sabha seat in Karnataka amidst internal conflicts

The Congress party has finally announced the candidate for the Kolar parliamentary seat in Karnataka, ending the infighting within the party. The ticket has been allotted to KV Gowtham, son of former Bengaluru Mayor Vijaykumar, who hails from Kolar and is known as a loyal party worker.

The announcement was pending as five legislators, including a Cabinet minister, threatened to resign over ticket allotment. They objected to the ticket given to Chikka Peddanna, son-in-law of Minister for Food, KH Muniyappa, citing unfairness due to family connections in politics.

In response to the ultimatum given by Minister Muniyappa, the Congress leadership decided to choose a new face to contest in the Kolar constituency, aiming to resolve the dissent within the party ranks. This move marks the completion of candidate announcements for all 28 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka.

The drama surrounding the ticket allocation highlights the internal power struggles and dynamics within the Congress party in Karnataka, as politicians vie for desirable political positions. The decision to field KV Gowtham as the candidate for Kolar reflects the party’s attempt to address concerns raised by disgruntled legislators and maintain unity ahead of the upcoming elections.
