Priyanka Gandhi Declares INDIA Bloc’s Five Demands, Including the Release of Arvind Kejriwal and Hemant Soren

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra presented five demands on behalf of the INDIA bloc at a rally at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi on Sunday. The demands include the immediate release of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, highlighting the need for a fair electoral process.

Gandhi Vadra emphasized the importance of a level playing field in elections and called for the Election Commission to ensure an unbiased electoral environment free from undue influence. She also urged the Poll body to stop politically motivated investigations by enforcement agencies like the ED and CBI.

The Congress leader insisted on the release of opposition figures Kejriwal and Soren, who have been arrested, to enable their participation in the democratic process. Additionally, she called for an end to any attempts to financially cripple political parties during the electoral period and requested the establishment of an SIT to probe BJP’s alleged involvement in money laundering and extortion cases.

During the rally, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge stressed the unity among the opposition, stating that the gathering symbolized ‘unity in diversity’. He criticized the BJP for lack of fairness in the elections and accused PM Modi of misusing institutions to intimidate opposition parties and leaders.

Kharge urged the public to choose between democracy and dictatorship, cautioning that the BJP and RSS are akin to poison with fatal consequences. The leaders from the INDIA bloc, longstanding rivals of the BJP-led government, convened the rally to protest against Kejriwal’s arrest and alleged unfair electoral practices.

Prominent leaders present at the rally included Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Uddhav Thackeray, Sharad Pawar, Sitaram Yechury, Bhagwant Mann, and Tejashwi Yadav, among others. The gathering aimed to challenge the ruling BJP and promote unity among the opposition parties in India.
