Former Uttar Pradesh DGP Seeks CBI Inquiry into Mukhtar Ansari’s Death

Lucknow, April 1 (IANS) – Former Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP), Sulkhan Singh, has called for a CBI investigation into the sudden death of jailed gangster Mukhtar Ansari. Questions have arisen regarding the circumstances of Ansari’s death, with the DGP emphasizing the need for clarity.

During a visit to Jalaun for a private event, Singh stated, “Mukhtar Ansari himself had also alleged that he was given slow poison.” He urged the state government to promptly recommend a CBI probe to uncover the truth behind the incident.

Singh highlighted the uncertainty surrounding Ansari’s demise, especially considering his claims of being targeted with slow poison while in custody. The former DGP stressed the importance of dispelling doubts by initiating a thorough investigation by the CBI.

In response to inquiries, Singh acknowledged the possibility of foul play, citing instances of policemen engaging in illegal activities. Despite acknowledging misconduct within the force, he cautioned against stereotyping all officers based on the actions of a few.

The call for a CBI inquiry into Mukhtar Ansari’s death comes amid growing speculation and concerns surrounding the circumstances leading to his demise. Singh’s demand for transparency in the investigation reflects a broader push for accountability and justice in the case.
