BJP’s LS candidate from Aligarh remains critical after suffering heart attack

Bahujan Samaj Party’s Lok Sabha candidate from Aligarh, Gufran Noor, is in critical condition after suffering a heart attack, as confirmed by officials on Monday. Noor was admitted to a private hospital on Sunday evening following the incident. The BSP had announced Noor as its candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, scheduled for April 26.
Noor, who has no previous medical history, unexpectedly suffered a heart attack, according to family sources. He has a political background, having served as the district president of AIMIM and contested elections in the past. With the possibility of his health hindering his candidacy, the BSP may consider replacing him if doctors advise against his participation in the polls.
In the 2019 elections, the Aligarh seat was claimed by the BJP, sat by MP Satish Gautam, who is running for re-election. The opposition candidate, Brijendra Singh from the SP-Congress alliance, is also in the race. With the filing deadline for nominations on April 4, the political landscape in Aligarh remains uncertain as Noor’s health condition poses a potential challenge for the BSP’s election strategy.
