Udhampur Lok Sabha seat: 12 candidates to vie for votes from 16.23 lakh voters

Jammu, April 3 (IANS) The fate of 12 candidates in the Udhampur Lok Sabha seat will be determined by over 16.23 lakh voters in the first phase of General Elections on April 19. The constituency spans five districts – Kishtwar, Doda, Ramban, Udhampur, and Kathua.

With 16,23,195 registered voters, including 8,45,283 male, 7,77,899 female, and 13 transgender electors, the Udhampur parliamentary seat is set for a crucial election. The Election Commission of India has established 2,637 polling stations for voter accessibility.

A notable highlight is the inclusion of 23,637 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the electoral roll, along with a significant number of young voters aged 18-19 years. The constituency also boasts a substantial elderly population, contributing to the diverse electoral discourse.

“The constituency boasts a considerable elderly population, with 12,020 male voters and 13,612 female voters aged 80 and above, totalling 25,632 seasoned voters contributing to the electoral discourse,” it added. The stage is set for a significant election in the Udhampur constituency, with a wide range of voters ready to make their voices heard.
