Two minor boys gang-rape 8-year-old girl in UP

Barabanki, April 4 (IANS) – Two boys, aged 13 and 14, were detained for sexually assaulting an eight-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki. The incident took place in the mustard fields where the accused gang-raped the girl and then fled, leaving her unconscious. An FIR was lodged and the boys were detained on Wednesday.

According to SHO, Lonikatra, Ankit Tripathi, the girl had gone to the field where the accused were harvesting mustard crops. The two boys took advantage of her being alone, held her, and gang-raped her, while also threatening her with dire consequences. The girl managed to reach home with the help of locals and informed her parents, who then alerted the police.

An FIR was registered under IPC 376 (D) (gangrape), ST/SC Act, and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 against the two accused. Station House Officer (SHO) Tripathi mentioned that the girl’s statement has been recorded in front of the magistrate, with medical reports awaited. The case will be investigated by police circle officer Haidergarh, Harshit Chaudhary.

This incident highlights the gravity of sexual assault cases against minors and the urgent need for strict actions to be taken against the perpetrators. Authorities are working diligently to ensure justice is served and that the victim gets the necessary support and care in such trying times.
