CM Sawant celebrates the historic day as mining resumes in Goa

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant hailed the resumption of mining activity in the state after nearly 12 years, calling it a “historic day”. He congratulated Vedanta for starting mining in Bicholim and thanked the Union government for their support. The ban on mining since 2012 had caused hardships for stakeholders, people, and the state.

Sawant stated, “It’s a Historic Day for Goa. I congratulate Vedanta for the commencement of mining in Bicholim (in North Goa). This has revived one of the key economic backbone of the state of Goa.” He also expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government for their assistance in resolving the issue.

The Chief Minister highlighted the challenges faced by the state due to the ban on mining and emphasized the benefits that the resumption of mining will bring, including job creation for stakeholders and increased revenue for the state. He mentioned that the increased revenues will enable the state to invest more in welfare schemes, infrastructure development, and propel the state towards progress.

With the auction of mining blocks conducted transparently by the government, Sawant believes that many stakeholders will benefit economically, leading to overall growth and development in Goa. The Chief Minister aims to utilize the enhanced revenue to improve the state’s infrastructure, support welfare schemes, and advance towards a more developed Goa.
