Telangana BJP requests Governor’s intervention in phone tapping case

The BJP in Telangana has demanded a CBI investigation into phone tapping allegations during the previous BRS government. The BJP leaders submitted a memorandum to the Governor seeking a probe into phone tapping of private individuals and political opponents from 2014 to 2023.

According to the memorandum, evidence has emerged about senior police officers who masterminded the phone tapping operation. Former police officers confessed to tapping phones of opposition parties during elections and extorting money from affluent businessmen, allegedly with the connivance of senior BRS leaders.

The BJP leaders urged the Governor to intervene due to the serious nature of the allegations, which they claim threaten the security of the nation and the privacy of individuals. They also highlighted the confession of police officers transporting money in police vehicles to supply ruling party candidates during elections.

The BJP emphasized that the matter falls under the concurrent jurisdiction of both state and central governments, warranting a thorough CBI investigation. The leaders believe that the safety of the nation and the privacy of its citizens are at stake, necessitating immediate action from the authorities.
