Two individuals detained for making ‘nuclear bomb’ threat at Delhi airport

New Delhi, April 8 (IANS) Two passengers, Jignesh Malani and Kashyap Kumar Lalani, were arrested at Delhi’s IGI airport for threatening security staff with a ‘nuclear bomb’ during frisking on April 5. The duo, residents of Rajkot, Gujarat, were scheduled to travel on Akasa Air flight QP-1334 (DEL-AMD).

According to an FIR accessed by IANS, the passengers made the threat while being frisked, leading to their offloading from the flight due to security concerns. The airline official stated, “Aap kya karoge Main Nuclear bomb le jaa raha hun,” in response to security measures.

The incident resulted in a case being registered under section 182, 505(1)(b) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the passengers were placed under arrest. Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI airport) Usha Rangani revealed that the passengers were business contractors in the construction industry from Rajkot, Gujarat.

After being released on bail, the investigation into the matter is ongoing. The DCP highlighted that the passengers had traveled to Dwarka, Delhi, for a business meeting regarding the purchase of SS Railings material. The police are continuing to probe the intentions behind the threatening remarks made by the passengers.
