TDP-JSP-BJP alliance requests NHRC intervention in Andhra Pradesh pension distribution.

The TDP-JSP-BJP alliance in Andhra Pradesh has appealed to the NHRC after 33 pensioners died due to mishandling of pension distribution by the state government. They accused the YSRCP government of negligence and called for immediate action to prevent further harm to vulnerable citizens.

Leaders of the three parties wrote a joint letter to the NHRC Chairman, highlighting human rights violations and systemic failures which led to the tragic deaths of pensioners. They urgently sought intervention and corrective measures to ensure door-to-door pension delivery using government staff, disciplinary action against negligent officials, and a high-level inquiry to hold those responsible accountable.

The ECI had directed the state government to make alternate arrangements for pension distribution, but the government summoned pensioners to secretariats resulting in extreme hardships and tragic deaths. The alliance alleged that the government intentionally failed to make proper arrangements and blamed them for stalling pension disbursement, leading to the avoidable loss of lives.

The tragic events underscore the need for elected officials to prioritize citizen well-being and uphold human rights. The alliance’s joint letter serves as a call to action for a swift resolution to prevent similar tragedies in the future. The NHRC intervention is crucial in ensuring justice, dignity, and accountability in the wake of these systemic failures which resulted in the loss of innocent lives.
