Four days pass with no arrests made following attack on NIA sleuths in Bengal

Kolkata, April 10 (IANS) Four days after the attack on NIA sleuths in East Midnapore district, the West Bengal Police have not made any arrests. Opposition parties are criticizing the police for delaying the arrests, similar to the Sandeshkhali case where the main suspect remained absconding for 55 days.

The attack occurred when NIA sleuths were returning after arresting two Trinamool Congress leaders. The police have filed a counter-FIR against NIA while failing to make any arrests in the case. Two NIA officials have been summoned for investigation, one of whom suffered minor injuries during the attack.

BJP legislator Rabindra Nath Maity accused the police of protecting the attackers, similar to the Sandeshkhali case. Congress President Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury alleged that the district police are hesitant to arrest the accused due to their ties with the ruling Trinamool Congress.

The situation raises questions about the involvement of the police and the delay in making arrests in the case. The NIA officials have been asked to cooperate with the investigation, while the opposition parties demand swift action against the attackers.
