UP man scammed of Rs 1 crore while attempting to create film about PM

Lucknow, April 11 (IANS) – Hemant Kumar Rai, the owner of an entertainment company in Lucknow, has filed an FIR stating that he was cheated of Rs one crore by a group promising to make a film on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The case was lodged in the PGI police station area of the state capital on Wednesday.

Rai alleged that Sanjay Singh, Sikander Khan, and Shabbir Qureshi assured him of obtaining necessary permissions to make the film and promised a 25% profit on his investment. The accused failed to secure an NOC from the PMO and stopped the film production after receiving the money.

According to Rai, the group provided postdated cheques for repayment, but they bounced when deposited. Rai also accused Sanjay Singh of defrauding him in the past and using blackmail tactics to extract money. An FIR has been registered under IPC 420 (cheating) and an investigation is underway, as confirmed by SHO PGI, B.C. Tiwari.
