Bhagwant Mann meets Kejriwal in prison, condemns treatment as akin to terrorists’ treatment

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann visited Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in Tihar Jail, expressing concern over the treatment being given to Kejriwal. The meeting took place behind a glass wall in the prison’s ‘Jangla Mulakat’ room with intercom facilities, adhering to jail protocols.

During the meeting, Mann stated, “Kejriwal is given terrorists-like treatment by the jail authorities. He is not being provided basic facilities.” Kejriwal, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in an alleged excise scam, is currently lodged in Jail No-2 at Tihar.

After the visit, Mann spoke to reporters outside the prison, revealing that Kejriwal reassured him not to worry about his well-being. Kejriwal has provided a list of six individuals, including the Chief Minister of Punjab, to the jail authorities.

The ED has accused Kejriwal of being the “kingpin and the key conspirator” in the excise scam, alleging collusion with other Delhi government ministers, AAP leaders, and other individuals. Kejriwal is set to be produced in court on the expiry of his judicial custody on April 15 at 2:30 p.m.

The meeting between Mann and Kejriwal sheds light on the conditions within Tihar Jail and raises questions about the treatment of inmates, especially high-profile figures. The development in Kejriwal’s case will be closely monitored as investigations into the alleged excise scam continue.
