Jemimah sidelined with injury as India announces squad for Bangladesh T20Is

Mumbai, April 15 (IANS) Top-order batter Jemimah Rodrigues will miss out on the upcoming tour of Bangladesh as the Women’s Selection Committee announced the 16-member Team India (Senior Women) squad for the series of five T20Is. Regular captain Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the team with Smriti Mandhana as her deputy, as confirmed by the BCCI.

Rodrigues, who is not part of the T20I team for the Bangladesh tour, is sidelined due to an injury. A BCCI source mentioned, “She is injured and is at NCA.” The matches are scheduled to take place on April 28, April 30, May 2, May 6, and May 9 at SICS, Sylhet.

The Indian squad for the 5 T20Is against Bangladesh includes players like Shafali Verma, Dayalan Hemalatha, Richa Ghosh, Radha Yadav, Deepti Sharma, and Pooja Vastrakar. Newcomers like Amanjot Kaur, Shreyanka Patil, Saika Ishaque, Asha Sobhana, Renuka Singh Thakur, and Titas Sadhu have also been included in the squad.

The series between Bangladesh and India will kick off on April 28 with the 1st T20I, followed by matches on April 30, May 2, May 6, and May 9, all to be played at SICS, Sylhet, as per the announced schedule.
