Abishek Porel’s cameo guides Delhi Capitals to a competitive 174/9 against Punjab Kings in IPL 2024

In a thrilling match at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Abishek Porel’s explosive innings of 32 not out off 10 balls helped Delhi Capitals set a competitive total of 174/9 in 20 overs against Punjab Kings. Porel’s quickfire cameo in the final over propelled DC past the 170-run mark, after struggling to build big partnerships throughout their innings.

Mitchell Marsh and David Warner provided a solid start for DC, with Marsh hitting back-to-back boundaries and Warner smashing sixes and fours. However, Marsh fell to a sharp catch by Rahul Chahar, before Warner continued to attack the PBKS bowlers before being dismissed by Harshal Patel. Shai Hope also chipped in with some big hits before falling to Rabada.

Rishabh Pant’s highly anticipated comeback saw him impress the crowd with some classy shots, but he eventually got out after a brief cameo. The rest of DC’s batting lineup couldn’t contribute much, with wickets falling rapidly towards the end of the innings. However, Porel’s late onslaught ensured that DC reached a competitive total.

In response, Punjab Kings will now have to chase down 175 runs to secure a victory against DC. With some strong bowling performances from Arshdeep Singh and Harshal Patel, PBKS will be targeting to restrict DC’s batsmen and chase down the target within the 20 overs. The match promises to be an exciting contest between two top teams in the Indian Premier League.

Delhi Capitals 174/9 in 20 overs (Shai Hope 33, Abishek Porel 32 not out; Arshdeep Singh 2-28, Harshal Patel 2-46) against Punjab Kings. The stage is set for an intense battle as Punjab Kings aim to chase down the target and secure a crucial victory in the IPL.
