Deepak Mulgikar said, “There are about eight thousand chickens in this poultry farm. Out of which 900 chickens have died in two days. Not a single poultry has been reported dead in the last 24 hours. “The District Magistrate said that prima facie the cause of death of the chickens seems to be food-related but the investigation is awaiting results.

It is noteworthy that not a single case of bird flu has been reported in Maharashtra so far. So far, the Central Government has confirmed cases of bird flu in six states – Kerala, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Gujarat. However, the central government has issued an alert to all the state governments keeping in mind the bird flu.
