Commonwealth Games medalist injured in a street fight in Lucknow

Lucknow, March 28 (IANS) – Swati Singh, a woman weightlifter and Commonwealth Games bronze medallist, was injured in a physical brawl on Holi in the Sushant Golf City area. Cross FIRs were filed by the groups involved at the local police station, and the investigation is ongoing.

Swati Singh, along with her friends, was approached by a group in a four-wheeler who allegedly made lewd comments. The situation escalated, leading to Swati and her friends being thrashed, and Swati sustaining severe injuries, including a head injury requiring stitches.

In response, the other group involved in the altercation claimed that they were attacked without reason by an inebriated group in a car, including a girl and four youths. Both groups have filed FIRs, and the police are currently investigating the incident, according to SHO Sushant Golf City, Anjani Kumar Mishra.

The incident has sparked concerns about safety and law enforcement in the Sushant Golf City area, as athletes like Swati Singh and Shivpal Singh were involved in the altercation. The community is waiting for justice to be served and for the perpetrators to be held accountable for their actions.
