CSK’s Shivam Dube Surprises Sai Kishore with Aggressive Approach in IPL 2024 Opening Match

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Shivam Dube emerged as the star performer in their 63-run victory against Gujarat Titans (GT). Dube’s explosive innings of 51 runs off 23 balls included two fours and five sixes, with two coming off the first two balls from left-arm spinner R Sai Kishore.

Dube revealed, “This match we won by a big margin, it is really amazing for us. So back-to-back wins especially the third win against Gujarat. So, feels good to beat them again. As I know, I’m much stronger against the spinners and I’ve played Sai Kishore in the past as well.”

The CSK all-rounder praised the quick start provided by openers Rutu and Rachin Ravindra, with the latter scoring a quick 46 off 20 balls. Dube emphasized the importance of aggressive starts in power-plays, stating, “That’s what CSK needs from the openers.”

Excitement soared as uncapped batter Sameer Rizvi marked his IPL debut with a six off the first ball he faced from Rashid Khan. Dube expressed confidence in Rizvi’s abilities, remarking, “We trust him and that was the message – to go after the bowlers from the first ball.”

Reflecting on the outstanding catches taken by MS Dhoni and Ajinkya Rahane during the match, Dube was full of praise. He commended Dhoni’s athleticism and Rahane’s exceptional work ethic, describing the catches as “amazing” and “like a dream catch.”

CSK, with two consecutive wins at home, is gearing up to face Delhi Capitals in their first away match at the ACA–VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Sunday evening. The defending champions will be looking to carry forward their winning momentum as they hit the road for the first time this IPL season.
