Delhi Police Commissioner directed by LG to investigate derogatory post on Kangana Ranaut

New Delhi, March 28 (IANS) Delhi Lt Governor V.K. Saxena has directed Commissioner of Police, Sanjay Arora, to investigate a derogatory post made on social media by Congress leader Supriya Shrinate against Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, who will be contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha polls on a BJP ticket from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh. The move came after BJP leader Bansuri Swaraj submitted a complaint demanding an FIR against Shrinate for “outraging the modesty of a woman.”

Saxena has forwarded the complaint to the Police Commissioner for a thorough and scientific investigation. Officials stated that the L-G wants the truth behind the episode and Shrinate’s claims of denial to be ascertained. The directive includes identifying the person behind the post and the device used for posting it.

Additionally, the investigation will focus on finding out who deleted the post and the device used for its deletion, after nearly two hours. Swaraj’s complaint alleged that the post by Shrinate “outraged the modesty of a woman” and called for the registration of an FIR against her under section 509 of the IPC.

The L-G’s directive aims to ensure that the investigation is carried out meticulously and that legal action is taken, if necessary, in accordance with the law. Shrinate has denied her involvement, attributing the post to individuals who allegedly gained access to her social media account.

The case highlights the significance of upholding decency and respect, particularly on public platforms, and the need for accountability in online behavior. The police investigation will play a crucial role in determining the truth behind the incident and holding the responsible parties accountable for their actions.
