History of Paper Bags

Back in 1844, it was first manufactured in England. Although the machine used to mass-produce paper was first invented in 1852 by Francis Wolle, a school teacher. He along with his brother, made a company called Union Paper Bag Company and patented the machine. Later, Margaret E. Knight made a machine that produces flat-bottomed paper bags that can be carried in an envelope-style design. In 1870, she founded the Eastern Paper Bag Company. Also, in 1883, a machine that can make paper bags in a square-bottom style was patented by Charles Stilwell. 

Importance of Paper Bags

Well, we all know the many benefits of paper bags over plastic bags. They can be easily recycled, reuse as well as biodegradable making them eco-friendly as compared to plastic bags. When it comes to paper bags, it can be easily degraded in a short span of time. As per reports, paper bag fibres can be re-used 3.6 times in Europe and 2-4 times in other parts of the globe. When it comes to safety, paper is much safer than plastic as it has less suffocation risk when it comes to animals and kids.
