Renault Nissan Alliance recently unveiled their India strategy at a press meet in Chennai. The group plans to launch four new models, including five-seater and seven-seater SUVs, jointly manufactured. The Renault Duster SUV is expected to make a comeback in the C segment, based on the CMF-B platform.

Luca de Meo, CEO at Renault Group, mentioned that the alliance is focusing on more feature-rich and sophisticated models based on customer preferences. The timeline for the launch of the upcoming models was not specified, but the new models are likely to be based on the same platform as the new generation Duster SUV.

Renault and Nissan did not reveal their plans for entering the electric vehicle (EV) segment in India. The group is assessing the market before introducing EVs, while also studying the government’s new EV policy. Public support and favorable business conditions are deemed essential for the success of EV plans.

The RNAIPL manufacturing plant in Chennai serves as a key hub for Renault’s and Alliance global ambitions, with plans to develop it as a center of excellence for digital technologies.

With a workforce of over 15,000, the facility is instrumental in producing global models and advancing new technologies like autonomous driving and electrification. The Alliance plans to invest $600 million in introducing new models in India, streamlining operations to enhance efficiency and focus on employee-centric manufacturing approaches.
