Suprabhatam Geet means “good morning” song. Sri Venkateswara Suprabhatam is the sacred hymn that awakens Tirumala Tirupati Venkateswara. Sri Anantacharya wrote it in Sanskrit in 1420 AD. MS Subbalakshmi Venkateswara Suprabhatam is the most popular. It is commonly heard in many homes and temples in India.

Every God in Hindu tradition is treated as a human being. Therefore, he is woken up with a gentle hymn-like Suprabhatam. Next, the deity is bathed and decorated with new clothes and ornaments. Finally, flowers are offered, and sandalwood paste is applied.

Rishi Viswamitra sang the first sloka of Suprabhatam to wake up Lord Rama, an incarnation of Vishnu. The other slokas were added later by different writers. The verses extol Lord Rama and also praise his past achievements. Finally, the Lord is requested to rise from his Yoga-Nidra.

Devotees who listen to the Suprabhatam Geet are carried away into another world of spirituality and peace. The hymn has been rendered so perfectly by MS Subhalaxmi, and it is considered one of the best renditions of morning prayers.

Among all the Sevas offered to the Lord Venkateswara Swamy, the Suprabhata Seva is considered very significant and much sought after because it is in the form of singing the Hymn of Morning Salutation to Lord Venkateswara. Therefore, it is ennobling and soul-elevating to hear this hymn being recited by the temple priests. Only after the recitation of this hymn the doors of the Sanctum Sanctorum of the swamy is opened.
