Nigeria banned Twitter activities on Friday. Let us tell you that two days ago, Twitter removed a post of President Muhammadu Buhari. The post threatened to punish regional separatists.

According to a Reuters report, Nigeria’s Information Minister Lai Mohamed said that the government took this action because the platform was being used for activities that could threaten the existence of the state of Nigeria.

However, Mohammad did not specify what these activities were.

Tests conducted by Reuters found that Twitter was not working on some internet operators in the country on Saturday morning, while some other operators had both its website and app running. Let us tell you that Airtel is also included in these operators.

On Wednesday, Twitter said President Buhari’s post, which threatened guilty groups to attack government buildings, violated Twitter’s “Abusive Behavior” policy. That’s why the post is being removed.

Twitter banned in Nigeria: Let us tell you that even before this, there has been a tussle between the Nigerian government and Twitter. In April, Twitter selected neighboring Ghana for its first African office. Even then, the information minister had said on Twitter that he was affected by the wrong media representation of Nigeria. Let us tell you that last year there were large-scale protests in Nigeria, which were suppressed by the government there.
