WATCH: Huge Blaze Engulfs Building Under Construction in Recife, Brazil

A massive fire broke out in the Torre neighbourhood of Recife, Brazil, on 28 March. According to TimesNowWorld, firefighters on a large scale were trying to control the fire in a high-rise building under construction located in Recife, Pernambuco State, closer to Real da Torre and Padre Anchieta streets.

Additionally, there were reports of debris falling from the building onto the streets caused by the fire. As a precautionary measure, police authorities shut down the electricity in the area and evacuated nearby buildings. Until now, no casualties have been reported. It is still unclear how the fire started.

Until 29 March, there will be delays in business and transportation as firefighters are fighting to control the complicated situation.

Last year, 2023, a fire broke out in a children and adolescents’ shelter located in Northeastern Brazil. According to news reports, four people lost their lives while thirteen were injured. A woman and a boy died in the fire, while the other two died on the way to the hospital.

Around 4:20 a.m., a fireman was called to the Lar Paulo de Tarso charity institution in Recife, the capital of the Pernambuco state.

Additionally, in 2018, a 26-storey building in São Paulo collapsed after being engulfed in flames. The fire was so massive that it killed one person and required 150 firefighters to control it. According to police authorities, a gas explosion caused the fire.

Most of the buildings made in Brazil have elements of wood. In case of fire, it adds fuel to the fire, turning a small one into a massive fire.

Coming back to the Recife fire incident, an investigation is ongoing to find out what happened at the site.”
