Every Year, the Birth Anniversary of former Indian president, late APJ Abdul Kalam is celebrated as World Students’ Day. Abdul kalam’s full name was Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam. He was born on 15 October 1931 in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu. He is counted among some of the greatest Indian scientists. He served as a scientist for the DRDO and ISRO for more than four decades. As a scientist, he is famously known for his contribution in ballistic missile and launch vehicle technology. Because of his development of this technology, he is also known as “Missile Man of India“. He also contributed in Pokhran-II, the second nuclear test of the Indian Army. Kalam was elected as president in 2002 and served till 2007.

When is International Students Day in India?

Since the starting on the day (2010), World Students’ day is celebrated every year on 15 October.

In 2010, United Nations General Assembly proclaimed the birthday anniversary of APJ Abdul Kalam as World Students’ Day considering his efforts toward education. Since 2010, every year UN announces a theme to give a shape to the whole celebration of this day

The current year’s (2021) theme of World Students’ Day is “Learning for people, planet, prosperity and peace“.
