Nitesh Chopra, a dentist from Yamunanagar in Haryana, felt unwell and had a nagging pain in his chest. Fearing something was amiss, he checked his ECG on his Apple Watch, and the device threw up an alarm. Wasting no time, a 34-year-old Haryana resident rushed to the hospital, where doctors confirmed the Apple Watch alert warning. The man suffered from irregular heart rhythm, and his life was saved. However, doctors later performed an emergency angiography, which revealed that Chopra’s main coronary artery was completely blocked, which could lead to a potential cardiac arrest.
The Golden Hour
In any event of a cardiac attack, the patient’s survivability depends on the treatment given in the golden period, i.e., the start of the cardiac arrest. Therefore, if treatment is started in this period, the survivability chances are very high.

Sharing his experience, Chopra said that he, like others, was living in a myth that young people will not have an arrhythmia. However, the alerts were consistent and hinted that something was seriously wrong. That is when the couple decided to go to see medical help. Unfortunately, the prognosis of the doctors was shell shocking. Chopra’s main coronary artery was 90% blocked. Chopra had to undergo surgery to insert a stent that kept his artery open.
