International Dance Day 2022: Current Theme, History, Significance, Celebration, And More
Annually April 29 is marked as International Dance Day around the globe. The day is no less than any religious festival and seeks to encourage participation and education in dance through events and festivals held around the world.

Every year a theme is announced at international-dance-day.org on the occasion of International Dance Day, which works as the center of the whole celebrations and events held on this day. For 2022, the theme for International Dance Day has not been announced yet.
History And Significance
For the first time in the year 1982, it was decided to celebrate April 27 as ‘International Dance Day’ in the remembrance of the French dancer and ballet master Jean Georges Noverre. Actually, he was considered to be the father of many forms of dance including the famous “Ballet Dance” in the 19th century. He always wanted Dance should be included in education from the school level itself.
This is the reason that the Dance Committee of the International Theater Institute (ITI) of UNESCO, paying tribute to Noverre decided to celebrate April 29 annually as ‘International Dance Day’.
