Johnny Depp got his first tattoo on his upper right arm, a statement “Cherokee Tribe”. He got it when he was just 17 years old. The tattoo was an honor to his Native American roots as his great-grandmother was Cherokee.
He has one tattoo of a heart with Betty Sue written across it. Johnny’s mother’s name is Betty Sue, who died due to a long illness in 2016. He got inked long before her death, It was in 1988 by tattoo artist Johnathan Shaw.
His firstborn child, a daughter with a wife Vanessa Paradise Lily-Rose Depp, got her name tattooed on his chest. “My daughter made me understand, helped me understand, why there is life and why I should live, and why I wake up in the morning and why I want to continue this funny road I’m on,” Johny once said in an interview. He added “I almost feel like I didn’t really have a life before. That I didn’t really live.”
His infamous love affair with Winona Ryder made him get a “WINO FOREVER” tattoo on his right arm, whom he began dating in 1990. The couple met on the set of Edward Scissorhands and fell in love. However, the relationship didn’t last, the duo split in 1993.
Johnny Depp also has a “suprematism triangle” tattoo on his left shoulder by the artist Jonathan Shaw in 1993. It is an adaption of a painting done by Ilya Chashnik in 1925.
Suprematism is basically a Russian offshoot of Cubism and Futurism. It is explained as “the appropriate means of representation is always the one which gives fullest possible expression to feeling as such and which ignores the familiar appearance of objects.”
