World Braille Day 2023 Theme, Quotes, Messages, Images, Slogans, Posters, and Caption to create awareness

World Braille Day is celebrated on the 4th of January every year. The day honors the man behind the invention of the braille language – Louis Braille. The language is a gift that enlightens millions of blind people or visually blind across the globe. The day also highlights and raises awareness about giving equal standards of human rights just like everyone else.

The word ‘Braille’ was named after Louis Braille, a Frenchman who lost his eyesight after getting stabbed in the eye with his father’s awl. From an early age, he enrolled in the Royal Institute for Blind Youth in France, where he learned and formulated a new learning system of raised dots that are now known as Braille.

He finished his work of making code base cells involving six dots that can be felt through a fingertips i.e feeling the entire cells in one touch then quickly shifting to another cell. Gradually and slowly the language became the universally accepted language for blind and visually impaired people. Although, Braille died in 1852, 2 years before the Royal Institute started teaching Braille.

Back in 1999, NASA’s Deep Space 1 named Borrelly’s Comet ‘9969 Braille’ in order to honour the contribution of Louis Braille. When it comes to Braille’s alphabet it can be used to write any language such as Spanish, Hebrew, and Arabic to name a few.

The main aim behind World Braille Day is to raise awareness and help the general public to understand the importance of braille in the disabled community. It motivates the blind community to learn the language and make themselves worthy. Every year a new theme is made in order to raise the significance in a far more effective way.
