Microsoft Corp Might Invest 10 Billion USD in Semafor, ChatGPT Owner OpenAI

Microsoft Corp (MSFT.O) currently is discussing and thinking to invest 10 billion USD in the ChatGPT owner, OpenAI. Post investment, the value of the San Francisco-based Organisation will rise to 29 billion USD. On Monday, the report was given by Semafor, it also cites the individuals who are families with the matter.

The funding process involves various venture organizations. In recent weeks prospective investors were sent deal documents with the goal to wrap up the round by 2022 end, this is what the reports stated. Microsoft Corporation has declined these comments. However, OpenAI hasn’t replied to Reuters’ request for comment. This comes after a Wall Street Journal story claiming that OpenAI was already in discussions to sell its current stock to venture capital firms including Founders Fund and Thrive Capital for an estimated $29 billion capitalization.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Inc. (TSLA.O), and investor Sam Altman launched OpenAI, which released the ChatGPT chatbot for a public free trial on Nov. 30. A chatbot is a piece of software created to replicate human-like dialogue in response to user input.

According to the Semafor study, the funding conditions stipulated that Microsoft would get 75% of OpenAI’s income up until the point at which OpenAI had earned back its initial investment from ChatGPT as well as other businesses like Dall-E, the image creation tool.

According to the report, once OpenAI reached that milestone, Microsoft would own a 49% stake in the company, followed by 49% from other investors and 2% going to OpenAI’s nonprofit parent. However, the exact stakes wouldn’t be known until Microsoft received its money back.

The Research explains this week that Microsoft corporation, that has invested 1 billion USD in 2019 in OpenAI, was aiming to develop a variant of its web search Bing utilizing the ChatGPT AI.
