Noida soon will get Gangajal by the end of May

Noida latest updates

The Gangajal project is worth ₹228 crore and is undertaken by Jal Nigam. The main issue that delayed the project was getting land to put an 80m-long pipeline in Dasna. Once the project is ready, the residents of Noida will get 37.5 cusecs of Ganga water.

According to the official statements, acquiring land in Dasna was quite tricky due to which a lot of work got behind schedule. Jal Nigam then had to lay pipelines once the land was approved. Apart from that, a proper channel going from the head regulator to the primary treatment plant is still to be made. These two work has been their top priority. The main aim of this project was to supply Ganga water to the residents of Noida. 37.5 cusec (90 MLD) will be delivered to Sector- 26 while the rest will be given 12.5 cusec to the Uttar Pradesh Housing and Development Council.

Areas that will be getting Ganga water include 128,122,131,130,134,133,145,144,168 and 151 to name a few. Initially, the project was announced back in 2018 with a deadline of 2021 November. Although with issues such as acquiring land, Coiv-19 etc made the project go behind its official schedule. The total cost the Noida Authority has to incur in the project is worth of ₹228 crore. Out of which, 135 crores will be given to Jal Nigam and the rest of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
