Raghav Bhatia, student-turned-rapper based in Noida works with Anurag Kashyap’s latest flick

Noida– Raghav Bhatia, a 22-year-old student and a rapper also goes by his stage name Boyblanck. In 2021, he used to make heavily-autotuned melodic rap from his bedroom and named it ‘Mr Kennedy’. Fast forward to 2023, he is working with the famous director Anurag Kashyap’s upcoming project which also has the same name. 

What Raghav Bhatia has to say-

“But then, I also never thought that I would meet (filmmaker) Anurag Kashyap, let alone work with him; or that his upcoming project would have a similar name as the song,” says Raghav Bhatia, a B.B.A student from IP University. He and his friend from Jamia Millia Islamia who composes musician and a poet named Aamir Aziz worked together to compose songs for Kashyap’s noir thriller, Kennedy — one of two Indian films selected for the screening in the 76th Cannes Film Festival. The other Kanu Behl’s Agra. 

Originally Raghav’s song ‘Mr Kennedy’ is inspired by a famous wrestler who goes by the same name. He sent a demo to a friend who was working as an intern in Kashyap’s production design team in Mumbai. Destiny has a different plan, when his friend opened the song to listen she was travelling with Kashyap. He was sleeping and immediately woke up when he heard the song, saying he has finally found his music guy, asking his friend to bring Bhatia to Mumbai. 

In just two days, Raghav Bhatia is in Kashyap’s Versova home in Mumbai. “I stood in AK’s living room, all scared. He came out, gave me a hug, and we had lunch. The discomfort was gone,” said Raghav Bhatia who lived the next few days in his home. 

During his time in Mumbai, he played a few songs to Kashyap while Kashyap narrated a few elements of the movie i.e inspired by the crime noir novels of French novelist Jean-Patrick Manchette as well as his comic made by comic artist Jacques Tardi. The cast of the movie features Sunny Leone and Rahul Bhat.
