On 6 September, Ashtami Tithi will start at 3:37 pm and will end at 4:14 pm on September 7. The Rohini Nakshatra will also begin on 6 September at 9:20 a.m. and will end on 7 September at 10:25 a.m. Thus, this year, Janmashtami commemoration will occur on both 6-7 September. On 6 September, Janmashtami will be commemorated and on 7 September Dahi Handi celebrations will occur.
