Shweta Sehrawat: The Rising Star in Women’s Cricket
New Delhi, Feb 17 (IANS) – Shweta Sehrawat, a seemingly regular teenager with a passion for movies and games, has taken the cricket world by storm with her exceptional leadership and batting skills. Shweta’s performance as a leader has brought out the best in her, leading her team to numerous victories in various cricket tournaments.
At just 19, Shweta’s achievements include captaining the Delhi U19 side, leading the India U19 ‘B’ team in Challenger Trophy, and winning the quadrangular series and series against New Zealand. According to Shweta, she thrives as a batter when shouldering the responsibility of leadership, believing that her performance allows others to bat around her.
With an outstanding average of 99, Shweta emerged as the top run-scorer in India’s triumphant 2023 U19 Women’s T20 World Cup campaign. She also led India ‘A’ to victory in the Emerging Women’s Asia Cup in Hong Kong, despite the limited number of matches due to constant rain.
Shweta’s impressive run in domestic cricket for Delhi included being the tournament’s top run-scorer in the senior women’s one-day trophy, where she scored a remarkable 242 runs against Nagaland at the MECON Ground in Ranchi. She also credits her improved fitness for her stellar performances and attributes her attacking batting approach to her success.
