Will form govts in Centre, provinces: PTI's PM candidate

PTI’s Omar Ayub Khan Claims Party Will Form Government

New Delhi, Feb 18 (IANS) – Pakistan-Tehreek-e-Insaaf’s (PTI) Prime Ministerial candidate Omar Ayub Khan announced on Sunday that his party is confident of forming the government in both the Centre and provinces, according to media reports.

The announcement comes after PTI had initially stated that they would sit in opposition following allegations of rigging against the Pakistan Election Commission and a fractured mandate. Dawn newspaper quoted Ayub as saying that the crackdown against the PTI is still ongoing.

During a press conference in Islamabad, Ayub stated, “Even now, police are picking up our workers and leaders and pressuring them. This was not the job of any caretaker setup. They exceeded their mandate.”

Pakistani and international media outlets have reported that the general election, held on February 8, were heavily rigged by the country’s establishment after the common people had voted for Imran Khan-led PTI.

The PTI’s claim of forming the government follows a tumultuous election and post-election period, with ongoing allegations of rigging and crackdown against the party’s members by the authorities.

The PTI has yet to provide a clear plan on how they intend to address these issues and move forward with the formation of the government. The international community closely watches the situation in Pakistan as the PTI’s leadership asserts their stance on the election results and the subsequent crackdown on their party members.

The PTI’s claims raise concerns about the future of democracy and stability in Pakistan, with questions surrounding the fairness of the election process and the actions taken by the authorities in response to the PTI’s allegations.

As the situation continues to unfold, the PTI’s announcement sets the stage for ongoing political tension and uncertainty in Pakistan, with potential implications for the country’s governance and international relations.
