China Dominates Table Tennis World Team Championships in South Korea

In Busan, South Korea, China secured its third consecutive victory in both men’s and women’s events at the ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships Finals on Sunday. The men’s team faced only slight resistance from their opponents, with the top male player, Fan Zhendong, leading the charge. Sweden and Germany also emerged victorious after full-set thrillers in the men’s category, maintaining their unbeaten records. On the women’s side, China’s dominance continued with Sun Yingsha and Chen Meng securing wins to keep the defending champions ahead.

In the men’s event, China’s top male player Fan Zhendong secured victory in the opening match, dominating with 11-4, 11-5 victories. Liang Jingkun and Lin Gaoyuan also powered China to a two-set lead, ensuring the defending champions completed their mission. Sweden and Germany both faced tough challenges but maintained their unbeaten records in the men’s category, clinching victories against their opponents.

On the women’s side, Sun Yingsha and Chen Meng secured wins to keep China ahead. Sun Yingsha triumphed over Spain’s Maria Xiao with a quick lead, while Chen Meng rebounded from an 11-8 loss in the first game to come up trumps against Sofia Zhang Xuan. Chen Xingtong closed out China’s straight-set win with a victory over Elvira Rad.

South Korea, Japan, and France also emerged victorious in their matches, further proving their dominance in the competition. Japan’s team in particular showcased their title contender status by dismantling South Africa with a combined scoreline that saw them lose only 15 points across nine games.

Looking ahead to their final group matches on Monday, China’s men’s team will face Croatia, while their women’s team will face Hungary in the competition.
