Mukesh, actor and BJP candidate Ashwini, submit nominations in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, March 28 (IANS) – Actor Mukesh of the CPI(M) and ML Ashwini of the BJP filed their nominations for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in Kerala. The state goes to polls on April 26 to elect 20 Lok Sabha members, with Mukesh contesting from Kollam against NK Premachandran and Krishnakumar.

Mukesh, a sitting legislator from Kollam Assembly constituency, filed his nomination accompanied by CPI(M) leaders. RSP’s Premachandran won the 2019 polls with a margin of over 1.48 lakh votes. Ashwini filed her nomination in Kasargod, aiming to give tough competition to traditional rivals.

The BJP candidate in Kasargod managed to get 1.76 lakh votes in the 2019 polls, while the winner and runner up received over four lakh votes each. This indicates a tough battle ahead for Ashwini and the BJP in the upcoming elections. Both candidates were supported by their respective party leaders during the nomination process.

The nominations for Lok Sabha seats in Kerala will continue in the coming days as political parties gear up for a competitive electoral battle in the state. The results of the upcoming polls will have a significant impact on the political landscape of Kerala and the overall outcome of the Lok Sabha elections.
