Chinook helicopters conduct emergency trial landing on NH-44 in Kashmir: IAF

The Indian Air Force (IAF) successfully conducted an emergency trial landing of Chinook helicopters on NH-44 in J&K’s Anantnag district. The exercise was carried out on a specially laid 3.5 km stretch on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway in the Bijbehara area.

IAF sources confirmed that the operation involving Chinook helicopters was executed with pinpoint precision. Elaborate arrangements were made, including deployment of security forces, radars, CCTVs, and other technical equipment to ensure the smooth trial run.

Security personnel were stationed near the emergency landing facility and in adjacent areas. The facility is expected to be utilised during wartime, floods, NDRF rescue operations, air dropping of relief material, transportation of stranded people, and other emergency situations.

Prior to the exercise, the traffic department issued an advisory suspending all traffic on the highway. The successful emergency trial landing and take-off showcase the IAF’s preparedness for any potential emergency situations in the region.–IANS
