He gained notoriety as Andy Dwyer on the NBC sitcom ‘Parks and Recreation’ (2009–2015), about which he gained critical praise and was recognized for the Critics’ Choice Television Award for The best Supporting Actor in a Sketch Show in 2013.

He started losing weight and trained out consistently, monitoring to see if the role was called on a constant schedule, dropping a maximum of 30 pounds (14 kg).
He sent out a photograph of himself to the audition supervisor when he thought he had shed sufficient weight and earned the part. Prior to the debut of “Moneyball”, Pratt was known for playing protagonists who were young and inexperienced. In Moneyball, he plays a dad and a disappointed baseball player in a dramatic part.
