Global Hunger Index 2021 List shows the condition of hunger in the country, listed at 101st position

Global Hunger Index, a tool prepared by European NGOs of Concern Worldwide and Welthungerhilfe that tracks the hunger rate globally has released their list (Global Hunger Index 2021) of a total of 116 countries. India is positioned at 101st place out of a total of 116 countries. Let us tell you, In 2020, India was ranked at 94th position. The big setback in the ranking shows that Hunger has been increased in India since COVID-19 Outbreak in the country.

India is far behind from its neighbourhood countries like Sri Lanka – 65th, Nepal – 76th, Pakistan – 92nd at Positions.

The Ministry of Women and Child Development had expressed their concern over this data and stated – ” the stats released by GHI are shocking, they show how hunger has spread its leg in the country after COVID-19 Pandemic Outbreak”.

British founded an independent charitable organization, Oxfam India had also raised its concern and stated – The data shows the reality of the hunger problem in India”. They also said – The data is not new, the government’s own National Family Health Survey (NHFS) data also highlights the same issue.
