Happy Birthday Abhinandan Varthaman: Today (June 21) is the birthday of Indian Ward Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, who was prisoned by the Pakistani Army, but he returned safely to India. Today June 21st is Abhinandan’s birthday as well as International Yoga Day. It is well known to all that not only the people of India but also the people of Pakistan have appreciated Abhinandan’s courage and morale despite the enmity. Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman is an Indian Air Force officer. He is a MiG-21 Bison fighter pilot.

On 26 February 2019, an F-16 fighter jet of the Pakistan Air Force crossed the Line of Control (LoC) into Indian territory in Jammu and Kashmir. Abhinandan MiG-21 fighter jets encountered enemy F-16 aircraft near the Nowshera Sector Base Camp. While the F-16 was 8,000 feet above the ground, Abhinandan took his MiG-21 fighter to 15,000 feet. From there Pakistani F-16 aircraft was targeted and bursted by Abhinandan.

In this air battle, Abhinandan’s plane went into the Pakistani border and he was captured by the Pakistani Air Force. Abhinandan was placed in Pakistan with the help of a parachute in Horan village area of Bhimber district of Pakistan-administered Kashmir.

After reaching Pakistan, the local people surrounded him. Then Vardhaman was taken over by the Pak army and then by Indian diplomacy. Then amidst many events, Pakistan handed over Abhinandan to India.

Let us tell you that Abhinandan was born on 21 June 1983 in Tamil Nadu in the house of Air Marshal Simhakutty Varthaman. Abhinandan Varthaman was released from the Pakistan side on March 1, 2019, at 9:20 pm Indian time at Wagah border position in the India-Pakistan border. He has been awarded ‘Veer Chakra’ by the Government of India.
