On 24th December every year, National Consumer Rights Day is celebrated in India. On this Day, Consumer Protection Act Bill was implemented to give consumers their rights. Under this Act, any consumer can complain of unfair trade of any kind, for which they have been given full rights.

History

The Consumer Protection Act Bill was passed on 24 December 1986. The Act was also amended in 1991 and 1993. A commercial amendment was made in December to make the most of this act. 2002. After this, the Consumer Protection Act was enacted on March 15, 2003. In 1987, the Consumer Protection Rules were also amended. It was then fully recognized on 5 March 2004. National Consumer Day was first celebrated in the year 2000. Apart from this, International Consumer Rights Day is celebrated every year on 15 March. Every year on 24th December, seminars are organized at various places and consumers are also informed.

Significance, Importance

Consumer Protection Act has been enacted to give consumers their rights. Now any consumer can make a complaint of unfair trade under this Act. For this, they have been given full authority.
