Next week, Amit Shah to embark on election campaign in North East states

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to kick off his election campaign in the northeastern states next week, becoming the first top BJP leader to do so after the Election Commission announced the 7-phase poll schedule. He will address an election rally in Aalo, Arunachal Pradesh on April 6, followed by a two-day campaign in Tripura starting on April 7.

From Arunachal Pradesh, Amit Shah will head to Tripura, where he will address election rallies, hold a roadshow in Agartala, and meet with state party leaders before departing on April 8. Several BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and others, are expected to join the campaign in the northeastern states to bolster the party’s presence in the region.

The BJP and its allies have fielded candidates in all 25 Lok Sabha seats in the eight northeastern states, including Sikkim. Additionally, the BJP has candidates running in the assembly elections in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim, which are scheduled for April 19. The visits of the Prime Minister, Union ministers, and other leaders are still being finalized, according to BJP sources.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha already held a meeting with party leaders to discuss Home Minister Shah’s upcoming visit and campaign activities in the state. The focus of the BJP’s campaign in the region is to strengthen its position and garner support ahead of the upcoming elections in the northeastern states.
