Noida police launched five more mobile education vans for underprivileged children

Noida is now a place where you can learn and educate your kids with just a mobile. Sonam Kumari, a 12-year-old whose father sells vegetables and mother died during childbirth never had the privilege to go to school. But for the past 2 years, she has been learning Maths, English as well as Science from the mobile for 2 and a half hours in a mobile education van.

“I used to stay at home, carry out household chores and cook food. But in May 2021, I got enrolled in a mobile van school with my father’s permission. At first, I was not interested in studying but after speaking to the teachers, I now have ambitions to become a teacher as well,” says Sonam.

She is among the 2,124 out-of-school children in Noida who are a part of an alternative education system by ‘Nanhe Parinde’, an initiative of Noida in collaboration with Chetna NGO and HCL Foundation, said officials. 

In this programme, multidimensional mobile classrooms provide educational support to underprivileged children in subjects like science, mathematics, art lessons, English as well as digital literacy. They also provide recreational opportunities, and sports in order to reduce the number of children who drop out of high school and get into juvenile crime. 

Coming back to classrooms, they are equipped with  CCTV cameras, LCD screens, GPS, educational materials and sound systems to access education better exposure. In 2021 January, the programme was launched with 5 vans educating kids through temporary settlement. On Tuesday, Bharti Singh, additional commissioner of police (headquarters), Gautam Budh Nagar Police commissionerate, introduced five more vans in the area through Greater Noida, Surajpur and Police Lines. “Delivering comprehensive life skills-based education and instigating collective social action will help empower young people from marginalised communities. It is our responsibility to help young talent advance so they can contribute to the nation,” says Singh.
