Raj Kundra gets bail in pornography case on surety of Rs 50,000
Mumbai court today granted bail to businessman and actor Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra in the pornography case on a surety of Rs 50,000. Raj Kundra’s coworker Ryan Thorpe also got a bail-in pornographic movie production case.
Raj Kundra was arrested on July 19 and has been in jail under relevant sections of the IPC and Information Technology Act.
On Saturday, Raj Kundra appealed for regular bail before a metropolitan magistrate court in Mumbai. He also claimed that he was being made a scapegoat in the case without any conclusive evidence and that the Mumbai Police has practically completed its probe against him.
The Mumbai Police Crime Branch had filed a supplementary charge sheet against Kundra and three others in the case wherein Kundra was accused of creating pornographic films and publishing them through mobile applications named Hotshots and Bollyfame.
Kundra in his application also said that he should be granted bail on grounds of parity with the co-accused, as eight of the nine accused against whom the charge sheet was also still were granted bail by the court.
He added that there is not an iota of evidence in the first charge sheet to show his connection with Hotshots and despite lack of evidence he was arrested. He also accused that the investigation was politically motivated.
In the plea, he further added that not a single allegation has been made in the supplementary charge sheet that stated that he was actively involved in any of the video shootings.
He was not involved in any offense even in the remotest way in creating alleged questionable content and he is not even related to the process of uploading or broadcasting the said content. Shilpa Shetty has not commented on the same case so far.
