At a time when all the voters of Tamil Nadu are casting their votes to elect a new government in the state, the late Chief Minister J.J. Jayalalithaa’s close aide V.K. Sasikala could not vote due to her name being removed from the voter list. This information has been received from his lawyer Raja Sainthur Pandian. According to him, Sasikala is named in the Thousand Lights Assembly constituency.
She was staying at Jayalalithaa’s residence in Poise Gardens. After the death of Jayalalithaa in 2016, the AIADMK government took possession of the house to convert it into a memorial.
Sasikala, who was jailed for four years on corruption charges, was released a few months ago.
Announcement to stay away from politics
However, earlier Sasikala had said that she would enter active politics, but later she announced that she would stay away from it.
His lawyer said that Election Commission officials had informed him that Sasikala’s name was removed from the voter list in January 2019 after the role was revived.
Later, the deadline for inclusion of Sasikala’s name in the voter list expired. He also wonders why the Election Commission did not send him a notice in the Paraprana Agrahara jail in Bangalore.
