UPSC EPFO Notification Out: APFC Vacancies Announced After 8 years

UPSC EPFO notification has been released for the 2023 recruitment drive. It is available on the official website in PDF format. This year, vacancies for Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner has also been announced along with Enforcement Officer/ Accounts Officer Posts. The last notification for APFC posts was released in 2015. The application process is currently live. All the candidates who are interested and eligible candidates must apply through the official website. All the important dates related to the application of UPSC EPFO are given below.

  1. ● Release of Notification: February 21, 2023
  2. ● Beginning of Application: February 25, 2023
  3. ● Last Date to Apply: March 16, 2023
  4. ● Last Date to Pay Application Fees: March 17, 2023

There are two major factors determining eligibility criteria for UPSC EPFO recruitment. The upper age limits are 30 and 35 years respectively. The date for determining the age of candidates for eligibility is the same as the last date of application i.e. March 16, 2023. The minimum educational qualification required for UPSC EPFO is a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university or institute. 

A total of 577 vacancies have been announced. They are further divided based on posts and categories. Some of the vacancies are reserved for PwD candidates. Those applying against reservations will be required to submit the necessary documents proving their categories. The post-wise vacancy breakdown is given here.

  1. ● Enforcement Officer/Accounts Officer- 418 vacancies
  2. ● Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner- 159 vacancies

UPSC EPFO application process is completely online. The candidates must select the ‘Apply Online’ button on the official website UPSC. If they are already registered on the website, they can fill the form directly. In the case of new applicants, they must go to the ‘One Time Registration’ section to register themselves. Once the candidates have registered themselves they need to follow the given steps in order to apply for UPSC EPFO exam. 

  1. ● Log into the official website of UPSC. 
  2. ● Click on the application link of UPSC EPFO. 
  3. ● Fill in all the details asked in the application form minutely.
  4. ● Upload the required scanned documents as per the specifications.
  5. ● Pay the application fee and submit the form. 

The application fee is INR 25 per post. Those applying for both posts will have to pay INR 50. It can be paid online through Netbanking/ Credit or Debit Card/UPI Payment or offline by remitting the cash in any SBI branch. The last date to pay the application fees is March 17, 2023. However, the ‘Pay-in Slip’ for offline payment will be available for generation only till 11:59 PM on March 16, 2023. Female/ SC/ ST/ Persons with Benchmark Disability Candidates are exempted from paying any fees. 

Applications without any fees, except for those exempted, will be rejected and not considered at all. No request or submissions against those rejections will be entertained at all. The selection of candidates will be done based on an offline exam and interview. The weightage of marks while preparing the final merit list will be in the ratio of 75:25. The offline exam will consist of objective Multiple Choice Questions. The medium of questions will be Hindi and English. The UPSC EPFO Syllabus is mentioned in the official notification but the detailed exam pattern consisting of marks distribution will be announced in due time.

Both the posts in UPSC EPFO recruitment are permanent. While that of Enforcement Officer/ Accounts Officer is of “Group B” Ministerial category, the Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner post belongs to “Group A” Non-Ministerial. The recruited candidates will be paid according to Pay Levels 8 and 10 of 7th CPC respectively. They will be on probation for 2 years and liable to be posted anywhere in India.
